I Try Trending Hairstyle- "Pop Smoke Braids"

Brooklyn and pop smoke

What better time than during COVID-19 to try out new hairstyles... I've been seeing this hairstyle trending online for a while now and my girlfriend decided to try this trendy style out on me. No, she isn't a professionalist, but ya'll know how it goes... she's working on her craft, so I let her play in my head. It's always good to support your friend right?? Plus, I don't know how to do hair at all, so I rather have her play in it versus paying an actual stylist to "play in it."

I don't think this hairstyle has an official name, but these are feed-ins, inspired by the late rapper Pop Smoke. I have seen a lot of different pictures online with different braiding techniques and such, but they all pretty much have the same concept... big "jumbo braids." Kim Kardashian even decided to rock this hairstyle, which looked bomb on her of course, but let's be clear... Kim K didn't start this trend! And no I wasn't trying to be shady, I love the Kardashians 100%!

I'm not going to lie, at first I was a little skeptical about trying this hairstyle out. I was scrolling down my Facebook feed the other day and I saw a post about how this hairstyle definitely isn't for everyone. And honestly, I totally agree with that statement... these braids are different!!! Let's be real everyone cannot pull these off... especially if you have a big head like myself. So, if you find yourself questioning if you could pull this style off or not, ask a friend first.

Overall, I think she did a pretty good job! It took her taking the same braid down and redoing it 100x times, but she finally got it down. I got a little agitated during the process though, so I had to go back to get it finished... I must say if it's one thing I know for sure about my girl,  it's she ain't ever going to send me out! And for those looking extra hard yes, the braids are a little loose but don't worry we are going to be redoing them real soon. :)
I'm super proud of her and I must say she did her thang! Thanks boo!

In conclusion, if someone were to ask me if I would rock these braids while out? The answer would probably be NO! They're cute in all, but I just can't see myself rocking this hairstyle in the club. I don't know it may just be me, but this style very much gives me Felicia from the movie Friday vibes...

If you want to try this hairstyle out yourself, I have posted links down below to tutorials for this trendy style.
