Daylight Savings

Daylight savings occurs every second Sunday in the month of March and the first Sunday in November. I am sure you've heard of the term "Spring Forward," meaning you will be losing an hour of sleep this month... real tragic for those who love their sleep like I do. Luckily for me, I live in Arizona and for some odd reason in this state, we don't participate in daylight savings... time stays the same year-round over here.

I don't know about you but I've always been so confused when it comes to daylight savings... I am never sure when I am supposed to set my clocks back an hour or forward. Luckily, we live in the 20th century, so our cellphones do the majority of the work for us! Regardless, it's a fact that daylight savings is known for messing up everyday routines and may take a couple of days for your body to adjust.. continue reading for tips on how to prepare for daylight savings

1. Change up sleep routine

Try going to bed a few hours earlier and waking up earlier than normal for a couple days so the time difference won't have such a huge effect...

2. Stay off your phone

The bright light from our cell phones is known for causing problems when trying to go to bed. Try to give yourself at least 30 mins from looking at your phone before you go to bed.

3. No long naps

I know I am guilty of laying down for a nap and it quickly turns from a 30-minute nap into a 2-3 hour nap! It could backfire and cause you to mess up your sleep routine and be awake during the night.

4.  Avoid Caffeine

Yes, this sounds like common sense, but common sense ain't so common... try not to drink any caffeine right before bedtime. This will definitely disturb your sleep routine.

5. Exercise

I mean who doesn't love to workout, right?  It's known that exercising provides many benefits on the inside and out... one of the benefits of exercising includes a good night's rest, just don't do it right before bedtime. Your body needs a couple hours to wind back down.
